Petroleum Engineering Department Excursion to Bazian Oil Refinery

A group of senior and junior students of petroleum engineering department made a one-day tour to Bazian Oil Refinery (Qaiwan Group) in Bazian on Thursday, April 18^th.

In the beginning, the required safety instructions were given to the students and later on different departments of the refinery plant were introduced. Several units such as heat exchangers, pre-heating units, burners, boilers, distillation towers and utilities, and their relevant processes in order to convert crude oil into a range of different products from light naphtha to heavy fuel oil were in more details discussed.

During visiting each unit, the managers of the units explained the processes, measurements and the control of the physical quantities.
